Report of an accident 112

If you find yourself at the scene of an accident, stay calm and find out if you can give first aid. The most important thing is to save human lives, call for help by phoning the emergency number 112, and prevent further accidents. It is a good idea to write down details of anything that may not remain undisturbed because of passing traffic. As soon as the police arrive, they will take over responsibility and decide on any further action.

Everyone involved in a traffic accident or those arriving at the scene are obliged to give first aid to anyone injured, to warn other traffic and, if necessary, call for help.

At the scene of an accident you should act as follows:
  • find out what happened
  • rescue anyone whose life is in danger
  • move any injured persons to safety
  • prevent further accidents
  • warn others
  • report the accident to 112
  • make sure that those injured are breathing and that their heart is beating
  • tend to any severe bleeding
  • continue giving first aid
  • help the rescue workers find their way to the scene.
